2013 FESTIVAL CANCELLED

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT - FESTIVAL HAS BEEN CANCELLED

The I&M Canal Trail and Gebhard Woods State Park sustained major damage from the storms and record flooding of April 17-20. Based on information received last week from the park officials, our allies for all these 25 years, we understand the site cannot be adequately readied in time to host this year’s festival. Since then, we’ve been working with the mayor’s office, the Morris parks department and others to try to relocate the event, but no other suitable and available location has been found. 

Regrettably, as a result, the 2013 Gebhard Woods Dulcimer and Traditional Music Festival HAS BEEN CANCELLED.

All of us on the board of HANDS of Illinois and the festival committee who have put so much time and energy into the planning of this event are deeply disappointed. We had assembled top notch lineups of stage performances and workshop opportunities, and made special preparations around our milestone anniversary. Nonetheless, we are where we are. Year after year, our festival is so greatly enhanced by the natural beauty of Gebhard Woods, but in the end, the elements remain beyond anyone’s control.

We will soon begin planning anew for a 25th Gebhard Woods Festival, in 2014, thanks to the many friends and supporters of the festival such as you. We’ll be back in touch as those plans progress.
