This year's festival will include an open showcase stage for musicians of dulcimer, ukulele, harp, autoharp, and other traditional instruments. Rick was a music education/trumpet major with a bachelor's degree in music, and was a high school band and choral director for 11 years. He has been playing mountain dulcimer for 12 years, and has composed several pieces for dulcimer. Rick owns and operates Creation Station, an art gallery/gift shop in New Harmony, Indiana, which is also the main showroom for the New Harmony Dulcimer Company.

Sun 10:00    Linda Nachtrieb

Linda is a folk music enthusiast from Joliet. In addition to guitar, banjo and dulcimers, she has recently developed a love affair with the lever harp which she brings to the open stage. Linda perfoms folk/bluegrass with the Stay Tuned String Band. She sings with the harp in area churches and for patients at the Joliet Area Community Hospice, and local nursing homes.

Sun 11:00    Jamie Fairfield

Jamie has been learning the hammered dulcimer since 1994. She is originally from Ft. Wayne, Indiana and now lives in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Jamie has played for weddings, funerals, churches, nursing homes, Heritage Hill State Park, and pretty much any place that won't kick her out (which has happened!) She is part of a duo, Tone Strikers, with her musical partner, Corey Christenson, who plays handbells. Check them out on Facebook!

Vienna is 8 years old and just finished 2nd grade. She is from Montgomery, Illinois and has been taking hammered dulcimer lessons with Katie Moritz for a year and a half. This will be her first time performing on a "big stage". Katie will be accompanying her on guitar.

Sun 12:00    James Bond-Harris

James got started on hammered dulcimer about six years ago after being inspired by House of Waters here at the festival. He enjoys playing Irish and traditional fiddle tunes, Scottish dances, and an eclectic mix of popular songs that he has arranged for himself. He endeavors to extend his musicianship into more jazz-tinged repertoire, focusing on tunes from the last half of the 20th century.

Known for their soulful and energetic live performances, Ashley & Simpson has been taking the music scene by storm. Jennifer Ashley is a classically trained pianist, singer-songwriter,and guitarist. Joel Simpson is an accomplished musician, singer-songwriter, and producer. Together they prove to be an irresistible duo, leaving you wanting more.

I've always liked folk music and have been playing it in some form or other since some time in the 1960s. I discovered the autoharp in 2015 and have made it my main instrument ever since. I was fortunate enough to attend the Mountain Laurel Autoharp Gathering (MLAG) in each of the past two years. I will be heading back to MLAG later this month where I will be a first time participant in the national competition.
